We use 3 coats of General Finishes High Performance, a water-based polyurethane finish, for our Door Hanger Signs. It will not ever yellow; goes on clear and stays clear over time. It is a film finish; therefore, it gives a smooth non-wood finish. This finish is the winner of Fine Woodworking’s “Best Overall Choice Award”, voted as the hardest, most durable polyurethane topcoat. It dries crystal clear, contains a UV stabilizer to protect it from breaking down in sunlight and is the most durable product out there.

I sent a collection of these to someone moving into a retirement/assisted living/nursing home community. I chose On the phone, do not disturb, really focused, in session, and a custom tag that said out and about in house on one side and left the building on the other. These are so wonderfully done and friendly to encounter that they are welcoming and informative too. Each one offers up the occupant's availability for engagement without having to disturb the peace to find out! I sent them in the spirit of a house warming gift and to help to ease what can be a difficult transition. Great for office, dorm room, even your family room! Highly Giftable - super fast shipping - I will be back!!
