I have knit and felted a Tree Swallow, which is one of the more amazing birds I have had the pleasure to watch.

I used my alpaca yarn for this bird, as the nuances of green and blues in the navy reflect the feathers of the real bird.

When you are on the ground and looking up at the Tree Swallow, all you can see is a dark silhouette. They land rarely, preferring to eat on the wing, but may land by the hundreds in the wax myrtle trees, chirping loudly, to eat the berries. After a few seconds they all take off at once, and you can hear the rush of their wings. In that little time, you are finally able to glimpse the brilliant of their dark blue and the bright white of their bellies.

The tree swallow is about an inch high. He has a dark beak and eyes that are needle felted on after felting.
