Vintage snake bracelet made by Forstner, circa 1920s* . Exquisitely made gold fill piece, with tightly wrapped sleek coils, elegant convex hexagonal scale detailing on the underside of the head. In good condition with light wear, this wear can be seen at the peak of the brow on close inspection, and in minute scale throughout the bracelet. Signed Forstner on the underside of the head.

* I have seen references to advertisments of Forstner snake bracelets from 1947, but have only actually seen the print copies with supple snake chains from this year. I believe the coil bracelets predate the snake chain bracelets. Forstner was established in 1920, and during the 20s, snake coil bracelets like these were a favorite among flappers (see the postcard image of a flapper wearing such a piece).

I have a matching pair of these in my own personal collection - I wear a single coil on one wrist, and a double on the other. They are among my very favorite pieces. I can highly recommend this exquisite piece.

Flexible, with a snugly wound interior diameter of about 2 to 2.25 inches. Head is about a half inch wide.

Flexible, with a snugly wound interior diameter of about 5 to 5.5 cm. Head is about 13 mm wide.
