This encaustic painting on wood is called Love Bird no. 2

This is an original abstract encaustic (beeswax + pigment+ resin) painting on cradled wood, with designs created with scraps of fabric. The whimsical bird is incised (drawn/carved, filled with oil paint) into the wax.
This painting is from a body of work that all began when I started creating reusable food wraps, and my studio became filled with a mess of colorful fabric scraps. I began imagining these chaotic piles of scraps arranged into something fun, funky and beautiful...Everything happens for a reason!

These are charming and exactly what I need for my guest bedroom . The color is spot on to the shop photos. The post office beat this box up but luckily they were packed to survive the trip!
