Did you know that Charles Darwin was an avid beetle collector? I find beetles to be very interesting, yet they are so small. I decided to paint my favorites on large canvasses. The result, a fabulously colorful painting on gallery wrapped canvas 24"x 36", ready to be hung and does not require a frame. This painting has a depth of 1 1/2". The sides are painted green with words adorning each side. On the left: "Charles Darwin was an avid beetle collector" and on the right: "Eupholus bennetti", which is the scientific name for this beetle. As an artist, I enhanced and exaggerated the color of the beetle to get an intense and vibrant feel for the work of art. Like most of my paintings, this too is complete with a beautiful glaze. There are two other paintings that complete this series and I will be adding them in the following week.
