This unique brass brooch began as a button crafted during the Arts and Crafts period that flourished at the turn of the century - between 1880 and 1910. Later, the button loop was snipped off and a pin back was soldered onto the back, which is how the piece came to us. It is clear that it has been repurposed, but it is otherwise in original condition. The bright enamel on the front is in excellent shape with few blemishes and the circular border is set with 32 faceted Marcasites. The pin has a diameter of 1 1/2 inches.
