It could be said that this silk scarf is based on color theory: yellow + blue = green. Of course, that is obviously what happened in combining the yellow dye with blue (where they "intersected"), green manifested. That is defintely the fun of working with color and pattern – simply to see what happens, to see the changes with color and within the pattern itself. And there is a lot of change along the way in this piece.

It's a habotai or China silk scarf measuring roughly 22" x 90" long. It's lightweight, soft, silky and warming when you need it to be.

The pattern was created using shibori – a universal resist technique used around the globe. It was hand dyed with two dyes (2 colors) in two separate vats in my home studio. I've included one photo of the scarf drying on my outdoor clothesline.

Care: if needed I recommend washing with a mild soap in cold water. I do not recommend dry cleaning as the chemicals used in the process could have an effect on the indigo. I cannot guarantee the results. Press on a low or silk setting after line drying.

I came across this listing and requested a custom indigo overdye of some pale blue chinos I had... I was hoping for a hybrid between chinos/khakis and jeans. What I received was nothing short of amazing. Customer service and communication with the seller was amazing. The price and service rendered is beyond fair and the return shipping was very fast and nicely packaged. But most importantly the final product looks exactly how I imagined a custom, hand-dyed pair of pants would look, with slight color variations near seams and contrasting stitching and buttons where the dye didn't penetrate as well, lending a very rugged workwear and denim-like look. The blue color itself is amazing. I can't wait to hopefully get that indigo "fade" like jeans, and get more character with wear! HAPPY CUSTOMER.
