This peach and coppery brown necklace features a beautiful piece of Wyoming Youngite. Youngite is found in caves around Guernsey, Wyoming, and along the Glendo and Guernsey Reservoirs. It is getting more difficult to mine or obtain, as many of these areas have been closed off to collectors. Youngite is a brecciated reddish-brown to peach colored jasper, with plume-like inclusions, and areas of more clear chalcedony. It often has druzy quartz crystals all over the surface and sometimes pockets of crystals inside the stone. I paired the large Youngite cabochon with a smaller peach-colored stone of Ocean jasper from Madagascar. Ocean jasper is an orbicular jasper with spherical patterning, and is only found in northwestern Madagascar along the shorelines. I set both stones with a serrated sterling silver bezel, backed with 24 gauge sterling sheet. I created the hanger with sterling tubing, cut to a v-shape, and coiled with sterling half round wire. Sarah strung beads that would pull out the peach tones of the stones, plus added some darker contrasting bronze colors. These beads include cultured pearls, Swarovski crystal, Bird's eye jasper, Sunstone, peach Aventurine, Flower agate, and Czech glass. She also added many sterling silver spacer beads, and larger S-coil sterling accent beads, which add to the sparkle of the necklace. The clasp is also sterling silver, in a hook and loop style. This piece is 21 inches long, and the pendant centerpiece is 2 1/2 inches long, by 2 inches wide. The available earrings include peach Aventurine, cultured pearls, Swarovski crystal, and sterling silver, and are 1 1/2 inches long. This elegant peach-toned piece of Youngite is sure to become a family heirloom! It will wear well with a wide variety of colors in clothing, and be great for both casual and more formal occasions.
