Description

This lot of 11 antique buttons is from the late 1800s to early 1900s. Based upon the reference book, "The Big Book of Buttons", these buttons are:

- 1 variation of the button titled, "The Piper"

- 1 variation of the button titled, "The Peasant of the Danube", and also known by the title Rip Van Winkle. From LaFontaine’s fable "The peasant of the danube".

- 1 unnamed button featuring a woman walking with a parasol atop a detailed & pierced backdrop

- 1 variation of the button titled, "Playing Badminton", featuring two women playing and a little dog at their feet

- 1 variation of a listed button showing a man teaching his dog to stand on its hind legs

- 1 unnamed button showing a boy with his dog next to a slain deer after hunting

- 1 variation of the button titled, "Hunter Bagging a Hare”, with a man in hunting apparel, a rifle on his back, a rabbit in one hand, and a dog at his feet.

- 1 variation of the button titled, "Fishing"

- 1 variation of the button titled, "The Mikado", with four figures in a garden

- 1 unnamed button depicting a woman feeding birds from a window

- 1 unnamed button depicting a girl next to her pet bird on a perch

These are as found and have various backings and run from 1/2" to 1 1/2" in size. There is weathering and patina from over 100 years of age and wear. Great for button collectors, sewing enthusiasts, fashion historians, history lovers and also work wonderfully fashioned into keepsakes such as jewelry.
