WHISPER perfume was introduced in 1932 by the atelier of Lucien Lelong...it was approximately the sixth perfume he had brought to life, but the first five were named A, B, C, D, J, and L...anyway, it was introduced the year before my all time favorite, Mon Image, came to be...

...this bottle seems to be a rarity...I have looked everywhere for it, and the usual bottle WHISPER came in was in what is known as a hob(nail) bottle...collectors of milk glass would know what I mean...this bottle was blown into a mold and then cooled VERY quickly, maybe in water, so that it would crackle but not shatter...it was then put back in to the glory hole and melted again so the crackling was annealed...the one time I have seen a photo of this bottle was in a 1936 ad for several of Lelong's perfumes...
Ad pronouncement: Pour une femme
un cadeau...
un parfum
For a woman
a present
a flavor (perfume)

...there is a lovely gold foil label with Lucien's name up at the top and Whisper PERFUMED COLOGNE at the bottom of this Art Deco style label...it is slightly worn and torn and there are perfume remnants in the bottle...the stopper/dabber is a heavy brass metal which slides down into a signed doughnut over a cork...the outside of the bottle was gently cleaned.

Bottle is 6 1/4" tall and approximately 2 1/4" in diameter at the girth...good vintage!
