Using Polymer Clay with Items you already have at home in my ring, pendant and bracelet blanks.
There are limitless possibilities of what you can make with polymer clay and my pottery pendants, and my sterling and copper rings, bracelets and pendants. I hope these free instructions will help those of you just exploring this option.
Gather your supplies. You will need…
a. Polymer Clay…several brands are available most craft stores.
b. Working surface to knead the clay, I find that a piece of glass with the edges duct taped or plastic place mat or even a paper plate works well for this. Do not roll out on any wood surfaces as it may damage the wood. Do not use these items for food after you have used them for the clay.
c. A small dowel rod can be used as a rolling pin to help soften the clay.
d. Toothpicks are usefully for putting holes in the clay if you want to make beads.
e. You can also use popsicle sticks are even plastic forks, knifes or spoons to shape, cut or add
f. Oven to bake clay
g. An old cookie sheet lined with aluminum foil for baking your piece in the oven.
h. Diamond glaze to add shine after the baking process.
i. E-6000 glue
1. Knead your clay until it is soft and pliable.
2. Then I shape the clay into the jewelry blanks, you can add stones, beads or found objects. Smoothing off the excess clay and working to get the desired look for your jewelry piece.
3. You can mix the clay colors to create your own custom colors.
4. Once your are happy with the piece you can smooth off any texture of finger prints left behind. If the surface is flat I often roll the jewelry surface on a piece of glass to smooth texture.
5. Put the jewelry piece with the clay on the cookie tray that has been lined with foil.
6. Bake according to directions for your particular polymer clay used. But watch as it bakes because thinner piece may not require as long of a baking time. My deep welled pieces tend to bake perfectly at the recommended baking time where by the 2mm deep pieces tend to bake in half of the recommended time.
7. Remove carefully from the oven. The jewelry blank will be extremely hot. Let your piece cool completely.
8. I test the finished piece to see how well it adhered to the blank, sometimes I can pop out the clay design and if this happens I glue it in securely with E-6000 glue.
9. If desired you can coat with diamond glaze for a gloss finish.
10. Enjoy.

POTTERY
My pottery pieces are all lead free, occasionally some glazes will have trace amounts of lead, if this is a concern please let me know and I will check to be sure of a particular glaze that I use on your piece.

I almost always have more in stock than what is listed if you need multiples of a listing please convo me. Special Orders are available, if you have an idea for a pottery piece please convo me. If you see a piece you like but want a different color, just let me know. I love the opportunity for a new design. Please keep in mind that the nature of pottery glaze is that it varies from piece to piece and from kiln load to kiln load, this is the beauty of pottery.

STERLING PLATED PIECES
With most of my sterling pieces the Base metal is Brass. To Silver plate the pieces they go into a nickel bath first then the are plated. This allows the plating to be stronger and last longer. We do meet the UK Standards for Nickel Release on all of our products. Which means that even though they are not 100% nickel free they are in almost all cases safe to wear for people that have nickel allergies. What is touching the individual’s skin is silver, not nickel. Every piece is LEAD FREE.

The NICKEL RELEASE is the the amount of nickel released from a piece of jewelry over a 7 day period of time.

On all special orders the balance is due when placing your order and prices are usually based on a similar piece currently in stock.

Please note: Every item in my shop is not for use by children, and because beads are small they do pose a choking hazard to children. Thanks, Cindy
