Description

This little doll bed quilt is awesome. The blocks are called Bow Tie, which is an old quilt pattern from the 1880s and still very popular today. The incredible part is How anyone could make this block so small. Each block is 1 and 1/2 inches square. The quilt maker used mostly darling tiny brown prints and a few reddish-brown ones. I cannot find any repeats of fabrics in this tiny quilt. Some are very close-related but still different. The quilt maker used a cream background and the same cream for the allies, binding, and backing. What a wonderful treasure this little quilt is.

The total measurement, including the pillow blocks, is 9 inches. The width is 7 and 1/2. The actual bed measure, not including the 1st and last rows or the pillow top, is 5 and 3/4s by 4 and 1/2. Those measurements would be for the flat surface of a doll bed.

This little gem is completely hand quilted. I do not know if it was hand pieced because it is finished, therefore there is no way to know. It is very precisely pieced, however. It doesn't seem possible to have been pieced on a sewing machine. I am a quilter myself, so I can really appreciate the perfection and time that went into making this adorable doll quilt.
