What amazing flashing yellows and brown gold of this Tiger's eye, paired with a golden yellow and brown Madagascar ammonite! We cut and polished this yellow Tiger's eye stone with a raised edge and a flat surface, which pulls out the sparkling chatoyant quality of the stone. Tiger's eye is a semiprecious variety of quartz with a silky, or chatoyant, luster, and is formed by replacement of crocidolite with chalcedony. Common sources of Tiger's eye include Australia, Burma, India, South Africa, USA, Brazil, Canada, China, Korea, and Spain. Madagascar is known for its beautifully preserved ammonite fossils from both the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods, many of which are agatized. I set the stone and fossil with 24 gauge sterling silver sheet backing, and surrounded the pieces with scalloped sterling bezel. The hanger is a V-cut sterling tube, with half round sterling coiled around it, large enough for Sarah to string beads through. The bead colors repeat the golden tones of the Tiger's eye, and include some darker values of golden browns for contrasts. The beads include more of the golden Tiger's eye, Bronzeite, Moukaite, Pyrite, Czech glass, and cultured pearls. There are multiple sterling silver spacer beads, as well Hill Tribe sterling silver fish accent beads, which add to the silver sparkle of the piece. The hook and loop style clasp is also sterling silver. This necklace is 19 inches in length, and the pendant centerpiece is 3 1/4 inches long, by 1 5/8 inches wide. This beautiful, rich hued necklace is sure to become a family heirloom!
