Description

This is an exceptionally striking cabochon of Rhodochrosite, paired with a pink Cobalto Calcite druzy. Rhodochrosite is a manganese carbonate mineral ranging from light to brighter pink. This piece has striking banded areas of pinks, to pinkish browns and beiges. It was first found in the silver mines of Romania, but the banded Rhodochrosite is mined in Capillitas, Argentina, and is also found in Colorado. This Cobalto Calcite druzy is bright pink with a natural crystal surface, discovered in the Congo (Zaire), Africa. Pink is one the most rare naturally occurring colors in Nature! I opted to set both stones in a scalloped sterling silver bezel, backed and edged with 24 gauge sterling sheet. The hanger is a V-cut sterling tube with coiled sterling half round wrapped around it. Sarah strung coordinating and contrasting beads through, to pull out the colors of the Rhodochrosite and Cobalto druzy. The beads include more of the brownish Rhodochrosite and very pink and gemmy pink Rhodochrosite. Also used are cultured pearls, Swarovski crystal, Czech glass, and Chinese glass. There are multiple sterling silver spacer beads, and large flat triangular sterling accent beads to add to the silver sparkle. The hook and loop style clasp is also sterling silver. This necklace is 21 inches long, and the pendant centerpiece is 2 1/8 inches long, by 1 1/2 inches wide. The available earrings include pink Rhodochrosite, Swarovski crystal, and sterling silver and are 1 1/2 inches long. This piece is perfect for the aficionado of pink, and will surely become a family heirloom!
