Peach hues and reddish rust colors abound in this necklace, which features a beautiful peach Imperial jasper and red petrified and agatized dinosaur bone. This piece of Imperial jasper has patterns resembling clouds over a mountain peak, or perhaps sand dunes, in pale to deep peach tones. Imperial jasper is found north of Guadalajara, Mexico is steep canyons, and is considered one of a group of special and fine jaspers; and it occurs in veins, vugs, and nodules in the host rock. It has a wide variety of color ranges, from greens, browns, and peaches. This fantastic piece of dinosaur bone comes from the Morrison Formation, a late Jurassic area, centered in Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah. You can see the cell structure of the fossil bone, and it boasts the sought-after red tones. We only cut our cabochons from smaller pieces of bone, and never from pieces that belong in a geological museum! I chose to set this piece onto a backing of 24 gauge sheet sterling silver, and bordered with a clean, flat sterling bezel. I created the coiled loop hanger with an opening large enough for Sarah to string the beads through. The beads pull out the variety of peach tones, and rusty reds of the centerpiece. These beads include red jasper, Ocean jasper from Madagascar, dinosaur bone, Moukaite, fire crackle agate, Carnelian agate, red "malachite", Swarovski crystal, Czech glass, and Chinese glass. The multiple sterling silver spacer beads and larger coin-shaped sterling beads pull out the sparkle of the silver. The hook and loop clasp is also sterling silver. This necklace is 21 inches in length, and the pendant size is 2 1/2 inches high, by 1 3/8 inches wide. There are also matching earrings available, which include red jasper, fire crackle agate, Swarovski crystal, glass, and sterling silver, and are 1 1/4 inches long. The colors and the stones in this piece are very elegant, and sure to be a conversation piece on many levels!
