In its original conception, this wallet was intended to hold cash out in the front section and plastic in the back. We like cash, we want to use more of it. More cash, less receipts. You can also easily slide a subway pass or a movie ticket in the space outside the flap even when it's closed.

The oil-tanned leather we've used comes from a local supplier, feels very nice in the hand and has a lovely memory. With use, the wallet will settle into its shape around your things, (whatever things) the flap will find a snug home, the leather will become more luminous, and before long this wallet will doubtless have taken on the unique and beautiful traces of life with, well, with you.

The construction involves a very trustworthy saddle stitch with waxed thread. The edges are dyed, canvas buffed, and hand finished with the same beeswax I used for the thread (which comes, by the way, from Gloucester bees--that is to say: from salty, salty bees). Our Railbird signature hangs just out of sight on the edge of the middle divider.
