Dimensions

Necklace length: 20 Inches; Pendant height: 3 5/8 Inches; Pendant width: 1 1/2 Inches

This is a fabulous and royal looking necklace, featuring a large polished cabochon of Lapis Lazuli with a quartz matrix, and set with a beautiful quartz druzy. Lapis is a deep blue metamorphic rock that has been used as a semi-precious stone since antiquity. It is often mottled with pyrite, or in this case with white calcite, and is primarily mined in Afghanistan. Druzy refers to the natural crystallized surface of the quartz, but is also found inside cavities of geodes. I opted to set these two stones in a smooth sterling bezel, backed with 24 gauge sterling sheet. The hanger tube is formed with coiled half round sterling, large enough for Sarah to run the coordinating and contrasting beads through. The beads pull out the deep lapis blues and whites of the druzy quartz. These beads include Lapis Lazuli with pyrite, quartz crystals, dumortierite, cultured pearls, Swarovski crystal, and Czech glass. The sterling silver spacer beads and larger elongated diamond-shaped sterling beads enhance the sparkle of the silver setting. The hook and loop clasp is also sterling silver. This necklace is 20 inches long, and the pendant centerpiece is 3 5/8 inches long, by 1 1/2 inches wide. This is a very flashy piece, and will surely be an eye catcher! It will go well with a wide variety of colors in clothing, both formal and more casual attire.
