Necklace length: 21 Inches; Pendant height: 1 1/2 Inches; Pendant width: 1 Inches

A polished one inch square red dinosaur bone set in sterling silver is the centerpiece of this necklace. There is a rich orange Carnelian drop capped in sterling silver hanging from the dinosaur bone. This piece is full of rust reds, deep oranges, bronze and browns. The red tones in the petrified, agatized dinosaur bone are some of the most prized colors. This piece comes from the Upper Jurassic period of the Morrison Formation, centered in Colorado, Wyoming and Utah. Carnelian is chalcedony in red, orange, and yellow orange colors. It is usually a solid color, but also occurs with banding. It is an ancient gemstone, used throughout antiquity. The most important finds of Carnelian are in Brazil, Uruguay, India, and Madagascar. I set the petrified dinosaur bone cabochon with a sterling silver serrated bezel, and backed with 24 gauge sterling sheet. The hanger is a v-shaped sterling tube, which Sarah ran the beads through. The necklace is 21 inches long, and the pendant is 1 1/2" long by 1 inch wide. These beads include Pietersite, Carnelian agate, Swarovski crystal, cultured pearls, Czech glass, and Chinese glass. There are multiple sizes and widths of sterling spacer beads, and larger square discs of sterling to add to the sparkle of the piece. The hook and loop clasp is also sterling silver. The deep autumn tones in this piece add a very rich look, and it would be great for the Paleontologist and dinosaur lover on your list!
