This vintage crochet elephant pattern is a realistic elephant complete with tusks and big ears to play circus with. The blanket on his back is an open canvas for beads or other embellishments. Worked entirely in single crochet as flat pieces and then seamed together, this is a great project as a gift or just to try out retro amigurumi.

This listing is for the pattern only, not a finished item.

This pattern is a complete restoration of a vintage pattern. The original pattern is in the public domain, but my rewrite and graphics have my own copyright. Fee free to make the items for sale, but I ask that the pattern itself be for your personal use only.

My elephant was done in Caron's Simply Soft and turned out out to be about 12" high at the head and 14" long overall. Changing sizes is as simple as changing hook and yarn/thread sizes. For the elephant "family" I used the same yarn and a G/4mm hook for the Dad, F/3.75mm for Mom and D/3.25mm for Baby.

The last picture shows one I did as (a custom order) in size 10 crochet thread. The tail is really fiddly to do so the tusks are polymer clay. As you can see, lots of room for bling!
