This soft and warm cowl is a combination of hand dyed lavender and natural colored hand spun fibers from Orcas Island. All the fiber, except for the silk, came from happy animals raised peacefully and organically in beautiful idyllic meadows on Orcas Island.

The mohair, silk, merino and corriedale wool and alpaca yarn work together to shield you from the winter damp chill and wind gusts. The handsome statement of the combined colors make me think of the silhouettes of trees against winter sunsets . The subtle amethyst and lavender colors herald the summer to come: lavender fields and wild flowers.

This looped scarf is 60" around and 16" wide. I knit almost the entire piece using two strands of fiber knit together: wool and mohair, alpaca and mohair, and silk and mohair.

To wear as a cowl, I turn the loop over on itself, "right side" out and then do the twist. The inside is just as pretty as the outside.

It looks good worn ruggedly or prettily.

The big bands of color across the body of the cowl have foundations of alpaca and silk. Both are combined with mohair. These fibers will feel soft against your cheeks when you pull the cowl up against the wind.

Thank you for looking at my design.
