Description

The Maltese Cross embroidered in white on a black half circle - D Shaped mantilla. Black Point d'Espirit lace paired with a scalloped black lace trim with floral motif. The veil measures 33" wide by 17" deep.

Fit with a hidden loop so you can secure the veil safely to your hair without damaging the lace. You may also request a veil with sewn in bridal loops and detachable comb. See options below.

Your veil will arrive in a brocade carry pouch (most have a separate pocket for your rosary) with matching hair pin, prayer card and floral sachet to keep your veil fresh. (Photo shows and example of past styles)

The Maltese cross as defined by the constitution of the Order of St. John remains the symbol of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, of the Order of Saint John and its allied orders, of the Venerable Order of Saint John, and of their various service organisations.

The eight points of the eight-pointed cross have been given a number of symbolic interpretations, such as representing the eight Langues of the Knights Hospitaller (Auvergne, Provence, France, Aragon, Castille and Portugal, Italy, Germany, and the British Isles). or alternatively the "eight obligations or aspirations" of the knights:

Websites operated by both the German Order of Saint John (Johanniterorden) and the British Venerable Order of St John associate the eight points with the Eight Beatitudes.

The Veiled Woman line of exquisite mantillas and chapel veils is handmade one by one in the USA.

FAQs

I am happy to hear your requests for custom and personalized orders, but my ability to fulfill your request is dependent on the availability of the lace you request and the time available to me. Custom orders are final sale.
Almost every veil can be washed in your washing machine on gentle cycle. However, so you are more confident, it is easy to swish your veil in warm water with a few drops of detergent. This method is recommended for embroidered veils. It is recommended that you wash dark veils separately. Lay flat or hang to dry -- or use your home dryer on the air dry setting. You may also iron your veil on the coolest setting preferably using a cloth between the iron and the veil.
I stand by the quality of my veils. If any stitching ever comes loose from normal wear and tear*, you can send it back to me for repair. Just pay the postage to send it to me. I'll pay for the return trip.

*Normal wear and tear does not include tearing or poking a hole through the lace. That's why I send you a carrying pouch - so you can keep your veil safe.
