WHAT IS WET FELTING/ NUNO FELTING ?

Wet felting is one of several methods which can produce felt from the non-spun wool. In fact, it is one of the first handicrafts known and the ancient way of making fabric!

The warm soapy water is sprinkled to the layers of merino wool that are placed at angles to one another.

By repeatedly rubbing and compressing the fibres, they bond together into a single organic piece.

As the materials are laid out by layers, the work shrinks and changes, giving an unpredictable feel and magic of the finished piece.

Nuno felting is a technique where merino wool and fibres are added to a piece fabric( a silk scarf/ piece of silk) to create a beautiful textured surface.

What you'll learn:

How to make a mood board and plan the layout of your scarf

How to most effectively use/tease out raw wool in creating your felt work

How to match vibrant/neutral/subtle colour in your project

How to add dimension/texture to your unique felt scarf

Tips and tricks for best layouts
