My favorite recent find - an AMAZING vintage 1950s full skirt party dress in black silk satin.

This has wideset capped sleeves, with a neckline that scoops down in the front, and down even further in the back. Vertical darts in the waist taper the top closely against the midriff and the skirt is very full, with a pellon lining to reinforce its shape.

The top edge of the dress and the top of the skirt are trimmed with a black satin corde soutache, with the pattern in the skirt echoing the pattern around the collar, but on a larger scale (love that!).

I used a petticoat to fill out the skirt for the photo. It is not included in the auction.

Closure: Metal zipper up the back

Lining: Top is lined, and the skirt is lined with stiff pellon.

Fabric contents: Silk (most likely - this is a well made piece)

Chest: 35 inches
Waist: 25 1/2 inches
Hips: 62 inches
Shoulders: na
Shoulder to Waist: 15 inches
Sleeves na
Length: 46 inches

Condition: Very good - about 1/2" of stress to the fabric in front of each arm (partially hidden by the trim) and several faint pinkish fade spots on the front of the skirt. There are also several thread pulls in the skirt - each about 6" long.
