Sure to enchant and delight, these embroidered freestanding dream catchers with FSL feathers are comprised solely of thread (and the hanging materials for the feathers & dream catcher) -- everything else is dissolved away! Note: These are freestanding pieces, they are unbacked so the design can be seen from both sides (although the back side will not look quite as nice).
Dream Catchers are a spiritual tool used to help assure good dreams to those who sleep under them. A dream catcher is traditionally placed over a bed where the morning's light can hit it. As you sleep, all dreams from the spirit world have to pass through the dream catcher. Only good dreams can pass through the feathers to the dreamer, while bad dreams are caught in the webbing where they are destroyed by the first rays of the morning light.
They look beautiful against a window as well as against a wall above a bed or crib, or even suspended like a mobile. Have one made just for you or that special someone. Presently shown:
Small -- Floral Mandala (x2). Circle Centered
Large -- Petals of Lace (x2), Sun Centered, Starflake. Spiderweb
Small dream catchers have about 4.5 to 5.5" rings and include three feathers (each around 3.5 - 5" tall). Large dream catchers are approximately 6 to 8" around and include three feathers that are each about 4.5 - 6" tall. (Sizes vary by design). Because of the nature of these dream catchers, they *cannot* be personalized.
Two and three ring dream catchers have graduating rings and more feathers. Multi-ring dream catchers are only in the floral geometry ring style for now.
Tree of Life dream catchers generally have actual (craft) feathers to lessen the weight and prevent stretching of the ring.
If you'd prefer craft feathers rather than embroidered feathers with your dream catcher in any style ring, just let me know! :)

The Legend of the Dream Catcher --
Dream Catchers are traditionally suspended on cradles or over beds as a form of armor and protection.
Dream catchers can be traced back to the Ojibwes. The Ojibwe people started the phenomenon and over time, dream catchers became adopted by other tribes, cultures and even Nations. Dream catchers today are considered a symbol of oneness and unity among numerous indigenous cultures and regions.
It is believed that dream catchers originated with Asibaikaashi, an Ojibwe shamaness who was known as the Spider Woman. She was a custodian of all the infants and the adults. It became a difficult task for her to take proper care of all the Ojibwe people as they started spreading geographically across North America. To help Asibaikaashi, women of the tribe were put in charge of weaving the magical webs for new infants. The children were provided with these charms as a medium of protection which were idealized to catch any sort of harm that might be present around that place or time. The web absorbs terrible dreams at night and discharges them during the day. The feathers act like ladders allowing only good dreams to descend on the infant or adult who is sleeping.
