About This Image:

A simple statement about the alchemy of the sea, the land and the space between.

It occurred to me when creating this image that so many of my favorite images come out of the use of out takes from other ideas. This image is no exception.

I loved the candid nature and the energy and inward nature of the woman, photographed as she is exploring her immediate surroundings and as is often the case, also things deep within.

The ocean has an amazing ability to cut through all the accumulated static we carry and to dissolve it. This is an attempt to show that visually.

There is magic in the simplest moments and in every dream we create, especially those born in our waking hours.

This image then, is simply a dream, dissolved by the ocean and spread among the cosmos. . .

Something in the Air

We are drawn to places for reasons we will never know
The little bird inside, the secret voices we find
Pointing and steering us along the way

We arrive here to find
Nothing really new or different
On a horizon line sits the sky
There is salt in the air
The sand meets the sea
Time's ebb and flow
Too long to remember
So everything seems
Just as it was

And yet, every time we leave
We somehow find
That nothing is the same
Ever again
