Description of the author:
I am proud to present my newest puzzle, the Mystic Charm!
The Mystic Charm is the second puzzle in the Mystic Series, a puzzle series that is entirely focused on the geometry of the Hexagonal Bipyramid. Each Mystic Puzzle introduces at least one piecetype that the previous puzzle did not have. The Mystic Charm implements the first 5 piecetypes (excluding the core).
The Mystic Charm is a jumbling puzzle. It has 12 faces and 12 different colors. Notice that the stickers on corresponding faces across the different Mystic Puzzles are the same color. This was intentional  There are 61 pieces in the Mystic Charm, including the core. There are 6 different pieces, 2 of which have no corresponding piece on the Mystic Stone. These two new piecetypes must exist together mechanically, although a different exterior shape could reveal a different combination of pieces on the surface.
Each of the 12 grips can reach 5 different jumbling stops, including the position they start in. As shown in my Jumbling Geometries Catalog, these stops are approximately at 104.5°, 151.0°, 209.0°, and 255.5°, in addition to the natural stop at 0°. These angles can be expressed precisely as ±acos(-1/4) and ±acos(-7/8). This puzzle implements the first 2 layers of jumbling.
The Mystic Charm is significantly more difficult than the Mystic Stone (though it doesn't seem to be nearly as unapproachable as the Mystic Totem), and there is both overhang bandaging and some rare instances of internal bandaging present on the puzzle. At the time of this posting I have successfully restored the original shape of the Mystic Charm after a full scramble, although during this solve the puzzle did not yet have stickers so I have not solved the puzzle for both shape and color. I would rate the jumbling of the Mystic Charm as a bit more difficult than the Helicopter Cube, but not by too much. While the jumbling moves are tricky, it is navigable after some trial and error. The small, chiral triangle pieces (that I call piecetype D in the video) come in two orbits, but both enantiomorphs of the piece exist in both orbits. This means you can have the puzzle in the solved shape except for some number of D pieces swapped with their mirror, resulting in many D pieces sticking out of the puzzle. Thus I needed to find a pure jumbling commutator for the D pieces just to solve the shape of the puzzle. I was successful in this endeavor.
In order to make this puzzle look nice, I actually extended all exterior faces of the puzzle a bit out from their optimal position so that the fillets on the outer edges of these pieces wouldn't over-expose the mechanism. Using some geometry, I computed the maximum amount of extension that, when coupled with the fillet radius, would not cause the pieces to intersect during movement. While this does give the puzzle a very clean look, it does mean that if a grip is slightly out of alignment, neighboring grips may get caught on the pieces that just barely fit without blocking other pieces. Still, this seems to be a pretty minor issue as you can see from the video.
