These Lutheran prayer beads can be used either as a Lenten aid to prayer or as a meditation on Luther's Small Catechism. (A pamphlet will be sent with the set of beads. If you'd like a copy of the pamphlet without purchasing beads, please contact me with your mailing address and I'll send one free of charge.)

The small beads of this set are 6x3mm glass rondelles in a dark teal. The larger beads are 10x8mm butterflies in a lighter teal and white, with a small crystal in the center. The "Easter bead" is a similar butterfly in white with pale gray markings. Dark teal seed beads provide the spacing.

The juncture (center) and the cross are both antiqued gold tone. The juncture is a filigree heart shape. The filigree cross is about 30mm long.

All of the butterflies, as well as the juncture and the cross, have their designs on both sides.

This is a small set of beads. From the bottom of the cross to the middle of the beads, the length is a little less than 10 inches (25cm). For size comparison, the hand prop in the photo is the size of a child's hand. The prayer beads come in an organza drawstring bag, along with a gold foil gift box.

With the butterflies and the small size, it may be tempting to see this as something for a child. But because of the small parts - especially the crystals - I'd recommend against this. I'm also not sure what the butterflies are made of, so I don't know whether they are child safe.
