Description

This antique skull and crossbones ring is pretty unique. The top and side charms, and the body style are all uncommon variants. The whole ring is a white metal; it's not plated and I'm guessing it's some sort of alloy of copper, nickel, and zinc.

This is the first ring that I've had that has these particular horse emblems on the sides. They look like knight pieces on a chess board.

There's patina where the individual parts are attached to one another. It could be cleaned, but I prefer to keep these rings as found and like the way it looks just as it is. Of course, given the highly zoomed photos here, it's much more visible in this listing than on the finger.

It's a great ring with a really good look on the hand. I intended to keep it for myself but I can't keep them all.

• Mixed Metal
• Skull and Crossbones with Horses
• Hallmark: MEXICO
• Sized 8.75 (approximately)
• Ring face: ~ 7/8" x 3/4"

Vintage souvenir rings, otherwise known as “Mexican Biker Rings,” date back to the 1930s. They were sold to traveling tourists and through novelty catalogs such as the Johnson Smith novelty catalogs in the late 40s and 50s. Rings like this were worn by American GIs returning back from the war, rebellious teenagers, fraternal organizations and lodges, motorcycle club members and really anyone who wanted a piece of the outlaw culture.

• This is a vintage item and exhibits signs of wear typical for items from this era
• Ring sizes may vary a bit due to the size and shape of these rings
• All sales are final unless we’ve made a big mistake in our listing
