This is a wonderful book published in 1953, written by Philippe Halsman and illustrated by Paul Julian, and is one of the rarest books created by a well known animator. It is the story of Piccoli, a little girl who is so small she lives in a matchbox, and who inspires a young boy. It was written by Philippe Halsman, a celebrated photographer, for his daughters.

What makes this book so special and collectible, is the work of illustrator Paul Julian. He worked on many of the classic Warner Brothers animations, and that style is apparent throughout the book. There are numerous illustrations in the 90+ page book, but I have chosen a few of my favorites to highlight in the photos.

Simon & Schuster, 1953.
First edition/stated first printing.
Decorative boards and illustrated end papers. It has the original dust jacket, which has some tears and wear. The edges are rubbed, exposing boards at corners. Spine ends torn along seams. Contents are good, still bright and unmarked, although there is one "break" where it lays flat.

Please email me if you would like more pictures of its condition, or if you have any questions!
