This sculptural vase was thrown in two sections and sculpted into a head vessel. It can stand upright, or inverted for an unusual composition of a sculpture portrait.

I modeled this piece after a swift sketch I made at a life drawing session. The original pose was upside down and dramatic. It inspired a different approach to sculpting a pot.

It is open on both sides and liquid tight. As an upright head, I imagine it being a sweet planter for a small potted plant. As an inverted piece, it would make a great vase, or a pitcher. If you don't care about making everything useful, it looks great on its own.

She's approximately 13 inches tall by 7" wide by 10" deep.

Made from recycled clay, painted in black underglaze and white glaze.

A nice artful reminder to go upside down every once in a while.
