Vintage Knitting book is perfect for you, whether you're interested in History, Art, or just good instructions in different knitting techniques. Sweaters and other knitwear designed with history in mind. Suppose the Ancient Greeks or Romans had worn knitted fashions. Or what would Egyptian sweaters, Medieval leggings or a Cavalier cardigan look like? This book will not only give you the history of the design, but a modern-day adaptation and instructions for knitting it.

I have been enjoying this book for so long, but it's time to share it with someone else. The book is divided into nine sections ranging from Ancient Egypt to The Thirties and Forties. Each period is represented by two designs plus accessories chosen to enhance the style. And there are two variations - simpler versions using alternative color schemes - given for each garment. Each pattern is also graded to indicate whether it's easy, or suitable for more experienced knitters.

By surveying styles through the ages, Sue Bradley, one of Britain's most acclaimed designers created this collection of stunning knitwear for the modern woman, illustrated with her own sketches. I also used this book as a guide when I was designing costumes for our local community theater group. It is so well researched, it was a great reference.

This hardcover book is 9" by 11.5" and contains 174 pages. It was published in 1986 by Henry Holt & Co., and in Great Britain by Orbis Book Publishing Corp. Ltd. It is in excellent, like new condition, with no marks even on the dust jacket. There are no marks of any kind on any of the pages. It is a heavy book, printed on thick paper with most designs shown in one or more color variations.
