This apron was created from a regular-size vintage pillowcase with a fun zig-zag pattern that looks like rick-rack. Judging by the color and design, I would guess it is from the 60’s or early 70’s.

I deconstructed the pillowcase and used every inch of the material to create this fun and practical vintage-inspired half apron. I wore many aprons like this when I was helping in the kitchen as a child.

The burnt orange-colored fabric trim of the pillowcase created the perfect decorative hem and pocket. I added lilac rick-rack to both for added interest and a matching lilac button to the pocket. The pocket is 2 layers for added strength and easily holds your cell phone or recipe cards. The waistband is extra wide for added coverage at the stove, but can be folded in half if desired. The waist ties create a wide, beautiful bow for that feminine touch.

This is fun and stylish for today’s woman that can appreciate her fashion heritage!
