This is a lidded jar with a deep turquoise crackle glaze using a raku technique. It was fired to cone 05 in a reduction atmosphere. The red flash on the side is due to copper reduction and is often a desired effect. The While still hot it was crackled over a fan and placed in a trash can filled with newspaper to generate smoke. The smoke filled in the cracks with black. The piece was wheel thrown into a closed form with the lid cut off and trimmed later. The lid is a perfect fit with no slop. This is my personal favorite piece from this Raku session. by Jesse
