Pink Lustreware Teacup. Victorian Blue And Pink Tea Cup And Saucer Totally Hand Painted With Pink Flowers. English Antique Lustreware Teacup

Description ~

This English antique pink teacup is stunning. Dating to well back into the 1800s, it is a highly collectable, much sought after and highly useable object even for the modern world. It is very special and deserves to be loved and displayed with pride.

Hand made and hand painted, the repeated blue and pink pattern and little pink flowers with their green dainty leaves, is just beautiful. The shine and gentle metallic iridescence is of the pink within the repeated pattern is gorgeous. Excellent quality and painted with great confidence and skill by its Victorian decorator, the pattern is bold and beautiful. There is no maker's mark, which is normal for Victorian lustreware, but there is the number '805' hand painted on the base of the saucer.

A fabulous link to the past, this is a very tactile teacup and saucer, with its thick smooth glaze, beautifully wide an open shaped footed teacup (a style favoured in the early to mid Victorian period) and the deep and rounded saucer. It is very easy to imagine it gracing a Victorian side board or parlour cabinet. A rare and very special teacup indeed, I'm was so delighted when I found it and I so pleased to be able to offer it for sale in my shop.

At the time of listing, I also have two further pink lustreware teapot and a pink lustreware milk jug/creamer available in my shop - please see them in the relevant shop sections.

Dimensions ~

Diameter rim to rim, excluding handle: 3 7/8 inches (9.8cm)
Height, base of teacup to top of rim, excluding handle: 2 1/4 inches (5.7cm)

Diameter: 5 5/8 inches (14.2cm)

All measurements approximate.

Condition ~

In amazingly good condition, especially when considering its great antique age! There are no chips, crazing to the glaze or damage cracks. There are some tiny marks and flecks in the china in places, which occurred at manufacture, are exceptionally minor and are part of the teacup's character. There is some minor rubbing/wear to the pattern in places on the saucer, reflecting the teacup's useful history. There is one exceptionally tiny little flea bite nibble in the rim of the saucer, which can just be seen on the left of the saucer rim in photo 1, but this is so minor and perfectly commensurate with age. Photo 9 shows the faintest of faint little hairline firing cracks, in the side of the teacup. This occurred at the point of manufacture, it is underneath the glaze, and is so minor, it can barely be spotted with the naked eye. It does affect the soundness or usability of the teacup. Please remember this is an antique item and so cannot be expected to be in modern manufactured mint condition. Any further marks are commensurate with manufacture, age and use.
