Art Easel Plan - PDF
Digital file type(s): 1 PDF
Art Easel Plan is a 28 page ebook of instructions (with pictures and diagrams in imperial (US) measurements) on how to build an adjustable, professional, wood easel that can support a small to large canvas or board. It also has a movable shelf for paints, brushes, rag, pallet, medium, drink, and who knows what else. The simple design uses standard dimensional lumber that makes it easy to build, and very affordable. Depending on your choice of lumber (oak, fir, pine) the cost of materials can be very minimal. Included is a list of tools, a materials list, and a lumber cut list to make your job as easy as possible. If you have limited tools and limited workspace, all the pieces can be cut at your local building supply store from standard dimension lumber.
Your finished easel will be a beautiful piece of wood furniture that will help you to create your own art masterpieces. If you ever want to put it away it will fold up to fit in a closet or under a bed.

Another happy customer:
I just finished building an easel from your plans. I used 4/4 cherry, plugged screws, and brass hardware. My wife is ecstatic but is afraid to get paint all over it.
Your plans were very clear and easy to follow.
Here's an album of the easel.
Thanks again, Sam
Built this easel from CoastPainter's plans. Build was straight forward and the plans worked out great. Print the plans in color to help you see where everything goes, get a little wax for the sliding parts, watch which way you install the hinges and everything will work perfectly. I would rank this as an intermediate woodworking project.
Given that the wife cried when she got it for Xmas, I would suggest this to any woodworker with a painter in the family!

I loved building this! I will say to order some extra 1x3 and use it to beef up where the hinges mount. I also did my own tongue and groove with a router because it was difficult to find that length of tongue and groove flooring. It wound up working even better because I could make the groove a little wider for smoother sliding. I used red oak for this one and also utilized a kregs jig as much as possible to hide the screws. After staining and three coats of poly here is the end result. Thank you for the plans!
Wow. Beautiful easel. You did a great job. Thank you for posting your review and picture. Ron Jensen
I had a question when I was about to start building from the plans and Roland answered within a few hours. The plan was also easy to read with some good diagrams and pictures. I decided to make this for my wife as a Christmas present. This isn’t a beginner project by any means but not extremely difficult either. I mixed some new oak with some old T&G oak that came out of an old school house. I love the blend of the new with the old. This easel is the easel of all easels. It’s very functional, strong, versatile and seriously simply a beautiful design. I wouldn’t have been able to find anything this gorgeous at a store. Thank you Roland!
Project came out great! Plans were pretty clear, but definitely not a beginner project. We didn’t use floor boards as the instructions noted, but made the tongues and grooves ourselves. Also used hickory instead of the wood suggested, so made the project a little more difficult since the wood was harder than those suggested. If you have the right equipment, there are some adjustments like that you can make to the plans.
I thought this ebook looked like good plans to building my own easel until I spoke to a wood craftsman who quickly told me that these were WONDERFUL plans to build an easel!!! TY!
