i want to sleep next to the rain
cheek pressed against wet leaves
no soggy pillows
or heavy blankets
just clouds
and the pressure of the air
to hold me

because i can’t

and you won’t

maybe i’ll lay down with the earth
and wait for her to swallow me
decomposing what’s left of my body
with the leaves
and i’ll marry the soil

because we aren’t

and this isn’t
