I love the two big blocks I bought. I have only just received this. Great size and I’m happy with the quality of the soapstone.

I’m a repeat buyer, and love dealing with Lynn. She’s awesome! The stone is a bit flaky/ layered and fragile, but takes a matte shine. The grey stone shines up better than the browns. Easy to work with, and great sizes to choose from! Overall , nice stuff!

I ordered three pounds and left no requests, because I kinda just wanted to be surprised, and got two heckin' megachonker pieces that I'm super pleased with so far. One of them is a bit more of a freeform raw with no flat planes and the other has a perfect right angle. There were also a few chippy breakaways -- which I expect from a stone that seems a bit on the fragile side -- that look like they'll be useful as practice. I've never worked with soapstone before, never so much as held it in my hands until today, and am interested to see how it'll carve out. From just holding the pieces though, I'm impressed. This stuff just plain feels nice, and the colors are widely varied and beautiful. If I do end up taking up soapstone carving as a hobby, I'll be coming back and if you're reading this review, I recommend giving it a try too!
