Offered for sale is a very nice antique architect’s wye level transit complete with original oak tripod and carrying case. The exact age of this is unknown but we suspect it is from the late 1800's to early 1900's.

The transit is made of metal and brass and has some minor paint loss as expected, see photos. The scope is adjustable (front and back) and comes with an extension tube for the front lens. The optics are and cross hairs are clear.

Underneath the scope is a glass leveling tube. All adjusting screws turn easily. The transit comes with its original oak tripod. The tripod measures approximately 55” inches when closed. Each leg has a locking screw on the top to keep the legs when extended, firmly in place. A sturdy wooden box with leather straps keeps the transit secure when not in use. The box has 2 locks to keep the top closed when carried but the original key is missing but could be easily replaced.

Inside the box is a plum weight and are several metal tools/pieces, function unknown.
Inv #2803

This antique Wye transit is still very functional or just enjoyed are a nice piece of early Americana.
