Vintage from the 1970s
Materials: 800 silver pendant, 925 sterling chain

Vintage silver pendant from Egypt featuring hieroglyphs and the bust of queen Nefertiti.

A lovely interesting piece with clear Egyptian hallmarks but difficult to date. My best guess is from the 1950s-1970s. I can say definitively that the centre hallmark which is a lotus flower was used after 1945 to denote the silver fineness. The symbol to its left is the silver fineness which is 800 (80% silver with 20% copper) issued in the central Egyptian province of Beni Suef. I'm still working on deciphering the date mark.

Beautifully crafted and in perfect condition, this is an item of quality with lovely oxidized wire work and superimposed symbols in shiny silver.

I've paired the pendant with a contemporary sterling 925 Italian snake chain which seems to suit it well.

DIMENSIONS: Pendant is 5.6 cm (2.1") long (including the bale) by 1.5 cm (0.6") wide with a 40 cm (16") chain.

PERIOD: Mid Century.

MATERIALS: 800 fineness silver pendant, sterling chain.
