The shield shaped centerpiece of this necklace is an incredible piece of green Australian Rainforest jasper. Rainforest jasper is a rare type of Rhyolitic lava found in volcanic areas of Australia. During solidification, the gas bubbles fill with quartz crystals, jasper, opal, and other minerals, giving the stone orbicular patterns. It has varying green shades, browns, red-oranges, and creams colors. It is mined only at Mt. Hay in Central Queensland, Australia. I included beads that would pull out and contrast with the different colors of the centerpiece. These beads are Canadian jade, more of the Australian Rainforest jasper, opalized African wood, Swarovski crystal, cultured pearls, and Czech glass. I used a variety of sizes of sterling silver spacer beads, and larger coin shaped sterling focal beads to add sparkle to the necklace. The hook and loop clasp is also sterling silver. The necklace is 21 inches long, and the centerpiece shield is 1 3/4 inches wide, by 1 1/2 inches high. There are matching earrings available, which include the Rainforest jasper, Swarovski crystal, Czech glass, and sterling silver; measuring 1 3/8 inches long. Rainforest jasper is one of my favorite stones, and will surely be one of yours!
