Henry Louis Gates, Jr., author of "Lincoln on Race and Slavery," opines that the combination of historical fact and historical myth surrounding 16th president Abraham Lincoln essentially deified him as the American Christ. He was a storyteller, a leader, and in the end, a martyr.

Astute or sacrilegious? Either way, here's a picture of it.

I was inspired by Byzantine icons and imagery of Americana, and printed this hand-cut two-layer lino block print on a heavy metallic copper card stock to evoke the penny coins that carry his image.

This is a fun image with a unique look that would be an ideal gift for your history-loving friends!

6"x8" image area. 8.5" x 11" overall dimensions.

Please note that with prints of this type there are likely to be variations in positioning and ink coverage. Personally I think that's part of the charm, but keep in mind your print may therefore look slightly different from those pictured.
