Hertz Pottery Bird houses have a 1.25-1.5 inch hole favored by Wrens and Chickadees. They have a hanging hole on the back and a drainage hole in the bottom as well as a perch hole on the front. They never need to be cleaned out, the birds take out old nesting material and put in new when they make a new nest.

This bird house is about 4 to 5 inches round. It has a wood perch and a special hole in the back for hanging on a headed nail or screw, and a hole in the bottom for drainage. The entrance hole is for smaller birds like chickadees wrens and finches.

The one I can see from my kitchen window has hung in the same spot for 25 years or more and it seems to be occupied all the time.

They should be hung where they never are in direct sunlight, and where they can be seen and enjoyed by you and the birds.
