Dimensions

Necklace length: 20 Inches; Pendant height: 2 1/8 Inches; Pendant width: 1 1/3 Inches

This necklace features a centerpiece pendant of Montana agate and black obsidian. Montana agate is a beautiful chalcedony found mostly in Montana, but also in Wyoming, along the Yellowstone River area in the alluvial gravels, and is sometimes called the Yellowstone agate. It has beautiful banding and wavy patterns, and is a very hard stone, which makes the final polish provide amazing sparkle. The black obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass, which formed when lava extruded from a volcano and cooled rapidly. This is also commonly found around the Yellowstone area, but also around the world in many locations which have experienced rhyolitic eruptions. I set the stones in a serrated sterling silver bezel, backed in 24 gauge sterling sheet. The hanger is a coil of half round sterling, allowing Sarah to string the coordinating beads through. The beads pull out the smoky browns, dark browns, and black of the centerpiece. These beads include banded black onyx, black onyx, hematite, smoky quartz, cultured pearls, Swarovski crystal, Czech glass, and Chinese glass. To add more silver sparkle, there are large oval discs of sterling silver, as well as multiple sterling spacers beads. The hook and loop clasp is sterling silver. The necklace is 20 inches in length, and the pendant is 2 1/8 inches high, by 1 3/4 inches wide. This is a very elegant and rich-looking piece, sure to be a conversation piece!
