Artist Statement:
Community is an artist’s book about harmony, as narrated through the lens of mutualism and symbiosis. Layers of pressure printed imagery highlight pairs of species that are both supportive and dependent upon each other. Their survival depends upon their mutualistic relationships. Cooperation makes my community more balanced and helps everyone co-exist. Community was printed utilizing letterpress lead type and artist designed pressure printing plates. I used a definition in my book, courtesy Plant-animal Interactions: An Evolutionary Approach, edited by Herrera and Pellmyr.
