Seed saving means a great deal to many gardeners, and it's something that's important for many plants. This is especially true of our many heirlooms out there.

Let's keep our plant genetics diverse and varied. Start saving seeds today in these little envelopes and pass them along to friends, family, and neighbors.

Glassine envelopes do not seal, so you can either tape them, or else fold them and use stickers as I do. The advantage to these envelopes, over small plastic ones, is that the smallest of seeds will not get stuck to the sides by static cling. Small seeds can also get lost in small paper coin envelopes, or else they simply fall through the holes in the folds. Larger seeds can fit safely in these too though.

Interestingly enough, this paper is made by a process called calendaring. When the sheets are finished with pulping and drying, they are pressed sometimes multiple times through rollers so that the fibers go in the same direction. This is how it gets so smooth and flat! Wow! Who knew?
