This is a vintage pin/pendant circa 1950's, done in sterling silver with an ivory stone finely hand etched with a whaling scene. The ivory is probably walrus tusk or another type of Northern tusk.

The pin is marked "STERLING" and "CC". The "CC" might stand for Curtis Creations, (Curtman), a company founded in 1936 and purchased by Uncas Prior to 1950, but that mark usually has a "CC" inside a circle and held in a hand. This mark is just "CC" domed by the "STERLING" semi circular mark.

The piece is 1 1/8 b y 7/8 inches with a dimensional height of 3/16 inches. The hinged pendant bail adds 1/4 inch to the length of the piece.

The pin is in excellent condition. The sterling is bright, shiny, and smooth, and has probably been lacquered. There are some minimal use and wear marks. It is free of scratches, scuffs, dents, but there is one small ding. The ivory stone is free of cracks, chips, or scratches. It is polished to a high shine. The pin and catch work well, as does the hinged pendant loop.

This is a very nice vintage piece from the 1950's at my best estimate.
