This tiny spindle has a carved split notch that allows the yarn to come from the shaft without either a half hitch or hook. The yarn to feeds out at the spindles center of rotation, making for a smooth spin. I've carved the whorl on this one into a flower shape that reminds me of a poppy.

DETAILS:
Materials: Bolivian Rosewood whorl/Walnut shaft
Whorl: about 2 1/4 in./ 5.8 cm across, 1/8 in./ .4 cm thick
Shaft: about 8 1/2 in. (21.5 cm) long/ 1/4 in. (.7cm) diameter.
Weight: about 1.4 oz. (40 g)

I've given the spindle a light tung oil finish to protect and bring out the natural wood grain. This one is affixed as a top whorl. Please inquire if you are interested in low whorl spindles or a spiral or other tip style.
