SHIPPING DELAY. We are away on a buying trip; shipping will resume on October 28, 2019. This drawer, complete with its original cabinet, is a recent estate sale find. The drawer and cabinet, fortuitously salvaged by a previous owner, was originally attached to the top surface of a late 1800s dresser, then often called a "bureau," and had a mate on the opposite side. Made of hardwood of different widths, the drawer's design is simple, with three incised parallel lines above and below the original metal pull with ring, and notched front corners of the cabinet, in keeping with the Eastlake and other more "minimalistic" aesthetics emerging in the late Victorian period.

Originally, the two drawers on top of the bureau would have been used to store gloves, collars and other small items. As found, this piece is perfect for storing small electronics, such as remote controls in the family room, keys and iPhones in the entryway or mud room, cutlery and other utensils in the kitchen. There can never be enough storage boxes, and one as nice and roomy as this one is sure to find a new purpose.

APPROX. MEASUREMENTS:
Overall: 12 5/8 in. front to back x 10 1/2 in. across x 4 1/2 in. tall
Drawer: 10 5/8 in. front to back x 8 in. across x 3 in. tall (2 1/8 in. deep)

CONDITION: Excellent antique condition with age-appropriate wear. There have been a few repairs over time, such as a replacement runner on the cabinet and a few newer nails, as well as wood stain inside and out. A small section of a wood knot on top of the cabinet has fallen off (see photos); it can be filled with wood putty or stained--or left as is. There's a small piece missing from the bottom right corner of the back of the cabinet, and a rough area along the back edge of the drawer bottom. None of this interferes with appearance or function. The drawer and cabinet are solid and will last for at least another 100 years.

A NOTE ABOUT VINTAGE: Everything we sell at AlegriaCollection is vintage, meaning that it's at least 20 years old, often much older. Consequently, most of our items show evidence of previous use and, in general, this is viewed as adding to the aged character of a piece. We make every effort to accurately describe any flaws and encourage you to carefully read the description, particularly when purchasing vintage as a gift.
