Item details

Vintage from the 1930s

Length: 2 Inches; Width: 5/8 Inches

This is a novelty piece of jewelry that was made by the Wallace Silver Co. who is well known as the manufacturer of some of the finest sterling flatware in the world.

This particular brooch pin is made using a tiny round salt spoon that was created for use with dipping loose salt from a salt cellar at a finely outfitted dinner table. This is the salt spoon from Wallace's pattern called "Sir Christopher" in honor of famed British architect Sir Christopher Wren. The "Sir Christopher" pattern features an intricately scalloped body further accented with a floral study and distinct scrollwork.

The brooch measures 2" long x 5/8" wide. It was produced in 1939, and is in excellent condition with a beautiful patina as an 80 year old piece of sterling silver. It would make a unique gift for a lady with an appreciation of the very fine old tradition of making these jewelry pieces to match a flatware pattern, perhaps your gift recipient's own pattern.
