History of Butterfly Eyewear Frames: Butterfly motif for optical frames has enjoyed several decades of popularity. First made popular in the 1950s by Paulette Guinet with huge flowing Mardi Gras hand painted frames. Marian Slater and Oliver Gold carried the motif into Op Art 1960s. Then this cutie from late 1970s by Sir Winston. London Anglo American in the 1980s copies many of the earlier styles and added their "over the top" flair.
